Open Door Ministry
On the first Tuesday of every month from September-May, we provide and serve food at the Open Door Ministries shelter on Centennial St. in High Point. You may also help by writing High Point Friends a check with the memo “Open Door Ministry” to help cover the cost of the food. If you would like to help serve food on the first Tuesday of any month, a sign-up sheet is posted on the community bulletin board. . . . . . Socks or other winter clothes for the homeless may be placed in Basket #3 in the hall.
Food Relief Ministry
We are continually collecting non-perishable foods- With a new theme for each month to add variety- Canned Fruits, Vegetables, Protein, Quick Dinners, Desserts, Comfort food, Holiday Dinner, etc – to go to one of the food ministries in this area such as West End Ministries, Open Door Ministry, or Salvation Army. Maybe one can per person per week? . . . . . . Any of these items can go into the Basket #2 in the hall.
Friends Material Assistance Program ( F.E.M.A.P.)
F E M A P Meets in a small house across from the Springfield Friends Meeting. They assemble various “kits” for: farm workers, school children, infants, and hygiene kits to be given to those who need them. They meet every Wednesday from 10-1:00 . They also need at home volunteers to sew children’s clothing(simple pattern provided) and quilt tops,(Blocks provided) or quilting. This years collections Sept.-School kit, Oct-Farm-worker kit, Nov.- Infant Kit, Dec.-Hygiene kit. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Items for the FEMAP collection may be put in Basket #1 in the hall. Kit list available in the hall on the left counter.
